Mists shroud borders as fog clouds the mind,
Ever in the gloaming no rays can you find,
Through the pall that would cover
As a dark cloak encircles,
Searching, you stumble blindly and seek to recover
The dreams you once dreamed of a future so fair.
Up in ashes with no flame,
Smoke lingers upon the stagnant air,
Sparks of hope rise to quickly burn,
Their embers falling to land in the loam,
Lightning flashes amidst thunderous refrain
To drown the cries and tears that remain
Unseen and unheard in this forest dark,
Unseen and unheard, do they exist at all?
No path to follow nor markers to guide,
Only a forest of dark trees stacked high to the sky,
Each ring a lost dream that has gone by the by,
Dreams that you dreamed of a future once bright,
Now construct the trees in your forest of blight.
