Compassion

Where has the compassion gone?
For our fellow man
Scurrying around in our busy days
Forgetting who we are
On this small planet we call home
Living day to day
Have we lost the ability to care or sympathize
All empathy gone away.
A simple gesture or one kind word
A thank you or a please
To look a stranger in the eye 
Instead of at your feet.
To live in the world and not just on it
To embrace each day with gladness
And not dread the path you tread
Or the stranger you may meet
To make this life a lot more pleasant
Try passing on a smile
Tolerance and understanding
Are what makes life worthwhile.
